If anyone is interested there is a small group of us heading up to Crackers Neck on Saturday September 10th. We plan at being at Callalantee to pick up our trail passes at 10am and most likely will spend the rest of the day at Crackers Neck. If anyone would like to convoy up there I am expecting to meet a number of folks at the Shell station off of the Asbury Church Rd. exit (#264) north of Winston-Salem on 421 (about 1/4 mile south of the I77/421 interchange) at 8am. Let me know if you would like to go with.

This could be a lie....but someone stop by my shop yesterday and told me that Crackers Neck was closed.... I dont know this for a fact, but you may want to call up there and check. He said the land got sold to a new owner. He said the Callalantee side was still open....but thats not really worth the drive or money. Good luck.

hey seth have you seen the new trails at call.... they are super tough. Everyone I know that has run them breaks something.

I am sure there will be many more trails cut into Callalantee. There are at least 3 good ones there that I know of at Callalantee and much like Uwharrie most of it becomes fun when it gets a good soaking. But overall I agree with you, I much prefer the Crackers Neck side.

Just wandering what the "3 good ones" are? I'm heading up on the 16th and haven't ever ridden the Call. trails.

Welder, Little Tellico and the new one that CTB cut in a few months back. I don't recall the name of it but maybe some of the guys that have been up there recently will chime in.

I might try to tag along. I need to break in the tow rig and new suspension on the heep. I will keep you updated as I wrap up my projects.

im still in boone right now. ill have the pics up soon.

welder was decent. i had to ride the cable on the waterfall.

little tellico was best part of the day since nobody though that i would make it. after some rock stackin and some skinny pedal. i made it.

joel, as for the new trail. for what saw it was not passable by my jeep without a lot of body damage. a few rocks were taller than my hood and were near verticle. :smokin: all the guys that ran it were 38+ we didnt stick around long enough to get a trail report from them but we saw jeeps

Looks like we will have a nice group going. I am gonna have to bring the video camera and the digi cam. :D

if anyone is interested. here is a pic from the waterfall on welder.

You can't help it if you miss a single class because you are "sick" with the fever. They can show you how to paddle just during the next class. WTF is with the kayaking class anyway? I didn't know you were on a sports scholarship. :flipoff2:

I thought you were going to UNCC?? Did you transfer to ASU? Do you know if Zack is able to go? I know lots of questions. Don't they understand it's just as much fun to manuver over and around rocks in a Jeep as it is a kayak! Bring the class along, I'm sure our group could scare them just as badly!
