I bought a 1989 Mitsubishi Montero awhile back and the front has a lean and sits lower than the back. I'm wanting to crank the torsion bars to raise the front up to where it's level with the back of the vehicle. I'm also wanting to do it so I can fit some bigger tires on it. I've never done this before so I need some help. Where are the torsion bars located and how do I go about "cranking" them? I'm wanting to put 32/11.50's. Thanks for the help and any other useful info you give me.

some like 1st gen s10's you can simply tighten a bolt to put pressure on the key others you have to buy new keys or put more tension on the bar sry im a jeep guy

On the back if the bars their will be a bolt tighting both sides the same. you have to jack up the front to do this and get it realigned

they are mounted horizontally under the front end, lift the front end up, remove wheels, then you need to ratchet the front nut forward, and then the 2nd one up against it tight. you'll have to do it a couple times, put the wheels back on, check the lift, and if need be, do it again. I have a Raider, its the same thing. you can comfortably put 31/10.50's on it, so you'd only need to do it a little bit.

I would be careful how much you tighten them....i know some people who have broken the end off were the bolt screws on....And remember the reason this system works is because the bars are resisting the twist placed on them by the vehicles weight....so they have a good bit of force stored in them even when they are not holding up the vehicle as they are still preloaded

I think I may just run it with the 32's without cranking the torsion bars. I've seen people run 33/12.50's on them stock so I should be fine. Thanks for the help though!
