i have a 04 ctd the lift pump is making a buzzing noise every time i turn the switch on it does it for about 20 secs. it still has the stock mounted pump on the fuel filter canister. it has made this noise every since ive had it 4 months. is it goin out or what.
 
its sounds live a airdog or something cause its pretty loud. Ive never heard another one with a stock pump that sounds like mine. i also have a wire goik from my fuel tank to my fuze box but its not hooked up
 
The older fass systems were pretty loud. You should be able to tell very easily if you have a aftermarket system (fass, airdog or carter or holley blue) on there by looking under the truck and seeing it it typically mounted on outside of frame rail for fass and carter style or behind transfercase for airdog, both the fass and airdog typically have filters and water seporators attached to them. They typically run for about 20 seconds when the key is first cycled. If you bump the starter it should repeat the process and make the pump run again for aprox another 20 sec.
