Cummins fuel filters

I just bought a 2006 Cummins, and word on the street is the best preventative addition to a stock truck is better fuel filtration. Been poking around, and I think I like the kit below. Anyone have experience with this kit?

It looks like it retains the factory filter, fuel heater, and water in fuel sensor unlike many of the under hood options. I am not in love with the location, but I guess as long as the filters don't hang below the frame it is probably fine.

Maybe this works? It is a Baldwin/CAT dual filter setup for water separator and fuel filtration.

I will probably toss a new Baldwin filter under hood while I wait.

Id much rather run a racor or fleetguard product than Baldwin....personally.

Just keep in mind the more things you add in line the more restriction you place in the fuel circuit - the harder the fuel pump is loaded and the shorter it will last.

When I do the 12 valve swap in my f450 it will get a davco filter housing. Almost every heavy duty truck has these and they are great. No need to keep up with mileage or anything just change the filter when it tells you to. Also for us non common rail guys it keeps us from loosing prime when changing filters also.

Hard to beat Geno's. Quality Fleetguard filters, fast shipping and you know what you're gettiing.
Like @Ron said, no need to overwork that lift pump any more than it already is.

Path of least resistance, I just ordered a 4/2 service pack from Genos. Probably toss some Rotella T6 15W40 in the crankcase at the same time unless someone chimes in to say otherwise.

Nothing wrong with saving a couple dollhairs and running the T4 in a 5.9. They run it without any complaints.
I will see what Walmart has when I stop by, last time they had T6 15W40 and not T4.

Edit: the interwebs seem to think 15W40 is the way to go with the 5.9l unless we are dealing with sub freezing temps, anyone disagree?

15w40 T4 and Fleetguard filters. I know on the fourth gens the fuel housing cap can seize to the housing so they offer a billet replacement cap, can't remember if third gens were the same way but worth checking into.

Cummins for years recommended valvoline “blue diesel” they helped develop the formulation.
Then they started selling their own fleet guard branded oil.
If anyone doesn’t know Cummins bought fleet guard probably 20 years ago.

Frankly in a 5.9 I’d rather have thicker dead Dinos than thinner synthetic
