OK, so I just purchased a 1977 International Scout II that I am going to turn into a rig.

The rig already has the 345 and dana 44's front and rear as well as the optional Trak-Lok system that was sold back in the day. Overall the body to this rig is completely crap. I am going to ripping the panels off and replacig them with a tube cage.

My question is - does anyone know where I can get a Tube bender and what size tubing I should use for the cage?

If there are any other ideas that would help make this a great rig it would be appreciated. I will be doing all of this work on my own and this will be my first project rig.

I want this to be a rig that has full use on the roughest trails so that me and my fiance' can get out in it as well as taking others out.

Please make any suggestions, they are GREATLY appreciated

Let me guess, your scout is rusty beyond belief. Typical for this part of the country.

I'm in Raleigh and have a scout. Mine isn't a crawler, but I've been reading the binderbulletin and pirate religously over the last three years just to learn more about internationals. If I can help, I will.

There's a pic of my scout in this thread.

Tell me what your plans are. Size of tires? Lockers?

You have a nice setup going there... I am not looking to keep panels on this rig at all... Im more looking to take the panels off and make a nice tube cage around it and keep the driving gear. The way that I figure it is that with less weight and a nice frame around it this setup can only get me around better...

I have many ideas for the rig, Ive been drawing plans up for rigs for most of my life, now i actually get to put one together...
