custom cold air intake

i am looking to make a custom cold air intake kit for my YJ, i dont have $200 to spend on a kit. any one on here make there own ? if so how did you do it?
 
I know this is totally ghetto, but this is what I did and it works. I bought a cone shaped K&N air filter and used a PVC pipe elbow and a rubber coupler and it connects to the engine with flexible dryer vent hose. Not counting the K&N, I probably have $5 in it. Oh yeah, I also took a piece of sheet metal and bent it and screwed it to the fender of my YJ so that it helps to block heat and mud from the filter. I spray painted the PVC elbow and the sheet metal black. I eventually intend to replace the dryer vent hose with PVC pipe so I have smooth surfaces inside and so it looks a little nicer, but it is what I had laying around!! That way, I could spend the other $195 on :beer: !!
