I've got some issues with my lower control arm mounts on my 98TJ d30.First off,got a ques.,Do all year tj's have the elliptical cam bolt/washer combo or just the early years? The problem I was having was I noticed that when I backed up and got on the brakes the front end was moving forward about a half inch(Think it's just the drivers side, hard to tell by myself).I just assumed that the control arm bushings were worn so I decided to replace all of them and put the greasable rod ends I had previously bought on at the same time.Well this is were the problems start,After I finally get the bolts loose(tried an electric impact, didn't budge so I got out the BFH),and check the bushings, they don't look worn.I start inspecting the area that the elliptical washers ride in(the horseshoe shaped pieces attached to the brackets that allow the caster adjustment) and they are wallowed out, enough to allow them to move back and forth even when tight. So i decide to put it back together so I can move it out of the garage, and one of the washers turns on the bolt,so now the bolt is screwed. No problem I'll just go get those next week, but the problem now is what to do about the worn out adjusters, can they be replaced,I'm guessing they are welded on?Anybody have the same problems? Is there a way to do away with them and use my adjustable arms to adjust the caster?

Thanks
Brian

Replace them with heavy duty control arm brackets and that should take care of your problem. You can get the brackets with or without the Cam bolt eccentric.
