I have a D44 that was removed from a 76 CJ5 before i purchased it. The spring mounts are 31 inches apart. The CJ location is 28 inches so the spring perch had to be moved to the out side of the frame. The original owner sent me a pic but it doesn't show the mod very well. Has any one else tried moving the spring perches to allow a for a width of 31 inches. If so do you have pics and any other additional advice and suggestions would be appreciated.

d44 install

it would be easier to cut the spring perches off the axle and relocate them iaw spring width, providing the pumpkin on the axle doesn't interfere. don't forget your caster angle so it will drive good. if you opt to move the springs outboard of the frame. use wrangler springs and reverse shackles setup. it works and fides great, but you need 7-7.5 degrees of caster and this usually means the yoke may be down too far thus requiring cutting and rolling the c's. i can send pics via cell if u want. i used scout d44's. waggy d44's are easier due to pumpkin/spring mount issues, but i didn't want the extra track width since it's my dd.

Can I do it without doing a shackle reversal. i plan on doing a SOA from rocky outfitters and would not really want to have to cut and move the C's.

Does anyone know of a thread or a process to outboard my spring perches in the front so that I do it correct and in a safe way. Is there a kit that does not include the shackle reversal.

Thanks for the links. Both kits above are the shackle reversal also. Is there a kit that outboards the perches without doing a shackle reversal.
