D44 rear axle seal leek

I have a D44 rear that won't stop leaking out the driver side outer seal. I have replaced the seal 3 times...tighten down the plate that hold the axle in multiple times...

so a little more back ground. My backing plate was severely bent. I looked and looked for a new one but with no luck. So I took the plate to a machine shop and we tweaked and bent over and over again until we got it nearly good. when I put the plate back on the axle it nearly seats just fine...just a slight wobble. It doesn't seem to be enough to cause the leak to continue...but sure the shit it is.

any brain storming ideas on how to fix?

great noodles guys I appreciate it.

visually looking at the axle housing it doesn't seem bent...I will put a straight edge on it this weekend

axle shaft?...haven't thought about that being bent? the splines aren't even slanted...its Allow USA. I guess I will take it out and put it on a lathe.

I will keep you posted

I have a customer who went through this same exact problem. We at first thought it was from running an aftermarket diff cover that moved the fluid level much higher on the housing. After a few bouts with different seals the customer ended up going to the dealership and buying a factory seal which was a double wiper instead of the parts house single wiper. Problem solved. I can't say for sure that this is your problem but it's definitely worth a try.
