Not a huge project, but still a project for me. :)

Sold my beautiful Sierra to help pay for my last year of tuition, and needed more room for the kids, so I bought this.

Got it off of sparkn89 on here, actually from his dad, and I am very happy with it. :huggy:

It is a 99 2500 4x4 with the 454. Leather, bunch of options, great shape. Kinda dirty, I bought it so quick he said he didn't even have time to get it clean.

This weekend I am going to pull the interior out and scrub the leather and pressure wash the carpet, and scrub all the panels down and all. Try and get it as spotless as possible before my kids dirty it up again.

The headlights were foggy, air dam was missing, and it needed a tune up so I bought new headlights and turn signals and an air dam, plus tune up stuff. The driver's door is also sagging, so I bought new hinge pins and bushings for it.

And then yesterday the intake started leaking coolant. :shaking: Going to put the upgraded gasket on it this weekend. They say it isn't a matter of if this happens on these motors, it is just when. Ryan's dad just got lucky I was anxious to buy the truck! No big deal $70 and an hour of my time.

Then I'm going to polish and wax the outside of the truck and paint the steel wheels black and reinstall the trim rings and centercaps.

Hopefully I can get a bunch done this weekend. At least the intake gasket, this thing is leaking coolant like crazy!

So here are pics when I bought it.

I am looking for some lights for my K1500 where did you get those. I like the stock style better than the projector style.

You would thinking that a loaded truck would have better rims that the ole steel ones??

I got them from Rock Auto, they were like $25 each!

I think all the 2500s of this body style got these wheels, I don't think there was another option.

I installed the air dam and turn signals, along with replaced the intake gasket and quick connect. I fubared the EGR tube, so I need to replace that.

I'm hopefully going to get to wash it one night this week, then I'm going to paint the wheels black and polish the trim rings. This weekend I'm going to scrub the hell out of the interior.

I'm considering a very similar purchase and am doing research on the engines.
The one I'm looking at is a 05 with the 8.1 and autoride. Seems its an all iron 454 stroked to 496.
It has 160K, never owned a big block and wondering about yours and what you think about higher mileage on them? I'm finding it's normal for them to consume 1qt per 1500 miles but not much more.

From what I understand, the 8.1 is just a stroked 7.4L. I might be wrong though, as I am new to BBCs.

I found tons of these trucks with a shit ton of miles on them, so I felt pretty comfortable buying this one. My favorite was the one I looked at with 635k miles on it and was only on its second transmission, engine had never been gone into, and the guy still wanted what I paid for this one.

Cleaned the snot out of it today, I had to get three different buckets of simple green because they got so brown and nasty. And that was just from the interior!

I primed and painted the wheels. Didn't turn out perfect, but these wheels are only going to be on till it is time for new tires anyway. They look a heck of a lot better than the scratched and rusted silver painted way they were before.

And my water pump went bad this morning, so I installed a new one of those too.

nice dad might miss it now

I really love this thing now. I liked it when I bought it from him, but I couldn't really get into it because I missed my Sierra so much, but now that it is all clean and running good and not leaking anything I am really enjoying it.

I'm going to replace the injectors this weekend to try and get rid of the issue with it hard starting.
