dana 30 cv shaft converted to u joint

Could I swap out my busted cv axle in my friends 98 zj could I swap in one of my spare u joint style shafts in as long as it has the abs ring on it any advice will help
 
Been running the big u-joints shafts in my zj with 35s and have not busted one yet. 93-95 zj's had bigger u-joints then the xj, yj or yj as far as I know

I thought the bigger U-joint was used in the last year of the YJ (95), all TJs, all XJs with ABS, and all XJs after 95 or so. Not sure though...
 
I have not personally seen the bigger (moog number 377) u-joints in any xj not saying that they didn't come with them tho. I've got a buddy with a 95 and a buddy with a 99 and both run the smaller u-joint. As far as zj's go every pre 96 with u-joint shafts have had the bigger joints in them. I've got 20➕ zj's in the junk yard and every pre 96 with u-joints have had the big joints. Not saying they didn't ever put the small ones in them bit I'm just going from what I've seen. We all know how the factory can mix and match things
 
well cool, learn something new everyday. When I say "big" u-joint, I'm comparing the 760x(297x) to the little 260x used in CJs, most YJs and early XJ, esp. w/o ABS. I don't get into ZJs much, but apparently I need to find some 93-95 D30 ZJ shafts :beer:
 
Lol the 760x is the joint I'm talking about also. I would say ill sell u some but I wanna keep what I have. Getting harder to find
 
All ZJ's with u jointed shafts had 297 (760 replacement #) joints in them. There are no OEM "big joint" ZJ shafts out there.
 
I've seen some 96 up models with the smaller 260 joints not saying some one didn't put xj's shafts in them but that's just what I've seen
 
well this is on my neighbors stock dd zj and i didnt know if replacing the whole shaft with a ujoint type would need for a different seal cause i swap a solid style shaft in my vac disco xj and the seal was to big and the oil leaked out so didnt know if i had to get a smaller seal or not thanks
