ive heard that a dana300 will bolt up to a yj automatic trans, is this true? i know that the front output would be wrong for a yj but i might run scout dana 44 with a passenger side drop. will it bolt up? any tranny clearance issues? scout or cj dana 300? please some knowledge is needed.

You will want to go with the CJ Dana 300, as it is the 6 bolt circular pattern like your YJ tranny. However, the D300 has a 23 spline input, and you tranny could be a 21 or 23 spline, depending on year/etc. You would have to adapt the tranny output shaft to the t-case input shaft if it is a 21 spline. Somewhere like Novak www.novak-adapt.com should be more useful on the topic (http://www.novak-adapt.com/catalog/kit_153_aw4.htm).

youd have to fab or purchase a d300 flip it and id recommend a clocking ring, cjs is pass drop, yjs is driver drop.

Should bolt up if the trans is a 23 spline. I've got my spare sitting on the bench, if you want to test fit it let me know :)

If you clock it you will have some clearance issues with the body unless you slap on a body lift. I bought the JB conversion rotation plate but it was $$$. It allows you to mate the 300 to the tranny easily. It also retains the tranny output seal but I had to cut 3/8 inch off the tranny output shaft. Don't forget the exhaust is over there on the pass side..

The DOE is a good and popular flip kit but the downside is its not cheap. A d300 can be homebrew flipped for 1/4 of the cost.
