I was just wondering since a rubicon has dana 44 axles. if anyone has tried converting older dana 44's to 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern?

I started to post the why. I knew it would be asked.
to keep from buying new bead locks. and if it cant be done. my next question will be. which rear to go with. a 9" or a d 44

Im pretty sure the rubicon 44s use the same small unit bearings found on the dana 30s. You would be better off selling your beadlocks.

Im wondering the same thing honestly ive already purchased the 44 front still not on tho but trying to decide which is best mines for a zj tho ive heard 8.8 is not bad either?!?!?!?

The rubicon 44 is basically a 44 center section with d30 outers... and the newer style of dana axles mount the knuckles to the housing differently, than the older style... so that will not work...

There is a way to convert a d44 to 5x4.5 though, using dodge outers...

I would just sell the wheels and get new ones... or get a set of wheel spacers/adapters...

on the rear axle, Id say the difference between the 9" & d44 are minimal stock, but the 9" can be upgraded alot more...
