I have a D44 in a TJ its leaking fluid out of the vent tube, have changed fluid and its not overfull, and it doesn't get hot after running..does anyone have any idea why this may be happening?????
Every time I change the fluid in a diff some comes out of the vent tube for a bit. My guess is that the fill hole is a little higher than it needs to be so the excess comes out the vent. I've stopped worrying about it.
The other possibility is that water got in there and it's foaming on you but if you haven't been fording I would just wipe it clean after a few hundred miles so you can tell if fluid is still coming out of the vent hole.
there was water in there and it started foaming..I changed the fluid and its still puking fluid out of the vent, even after several trips after changing...
DO you have a locker in it? If so, then you may need to open up the drain holes inside the diff where the tubes drain out. Sometimes that is an issue. We have started doing it anytime we put in a Detroit or ARB because this has become more of a problem lately.
