i have both..... and a set of 39.5" tires..... probably won't ever go much bigger..... which should i use?? i know the 14 is stronger, but is the 60 sufficient for 39-40's?? i'm kinda leaning towards the 60, first, it matches the front 60 i have, and also, it's not HUGE like the 14 bolt..... what do ya'll think???

The D60 isn't a terrible axle. About the only problems I've heard of is the pinion bearing. Personally, I'd run the 14b after giving it a shave, as parts are just a little more abundant in junkyards should you break something. You can't lose with either one.

If the D60 is 30 spline, then it isn't even in the same league as the 14 bolt and is more comparable to a 9". You could upgrade the D60 to 35 spline shafts, but that usually requires boring the spindles plus the cost of the new shafts. Run the 14 bolt, and just grind/shave the bottom lip off.

also with the 14bolt you can chop off a hundred lbs or so just be switching the drum brakes to disc, I think GubNi ^ is your man up there for that! (free plug)

:)

Depends on what gears you need to run. If you are going to run standard 4:10 - 5:13 type stuff go with the 14 bolt. I'd only go to the 60 if I needed the 6:17 or 7:17 gears.
