dana 60 sf to ff

does anyone know if you can convert a semi float rear dana 60 to a full float.
I don't think you can, and if you could, as cheap as 60's are you would be better to just buy one. You would need to buy spindles ( pretty sure no one makes a bolt on 60 spindle) new hubs, bearings, and axle shafts.

have a 95 bronco. i need a rear axle with the abs/speedo sensor in rear diff housing. i have found both sf and ff dana
60s. only found the sensor in the sf rear end.

You can. It would require the housing ends to be cut off, spindles machined to fit the tubes, spindles welded in, and then you would have to purchase hubs with the appropriate lug pattern, brakes, axle shafts, etc.

I can do this if you would like to discuss it further. We can also scrounge parts from a D70 to machine and weld into your D60 if you need to keep the ABS ring.

Give me a shout.

Some of the early 90's E350 ford vans have the sensor on the full float axles. I had one of them, but I sold it a while ago. They also had the larger ID spindles.

You man could even just swap out the diff from the SF to the FF axle...

Don't know if that would be easier than fitting spindles on a SF axle...

Do the later Ford/Sterling 10.25 rearends have the abs/speedo ring?

I found some of the ford vans w/ the sf but none w/ a ff....yet. But I'm still looking. The 10.25 does have the abs ring but it such a big axle and very very heavy. Any more specifics on the ford van with a ff w/ abs ring would be appreciated.

look for E350 Super Duty single rear wheel cargo van ( not box )

Exactly. The particular one I had was from a 1990 model.

Also, if I remember on the axle I had, the speedometer sensor was position right above the ring gear. I don't recall ever seeing a D60 carrier set up with a tone ring of some sort, so does it take readings off the ring gear? If it does, and you have the means, you could drill the center section and install the sensor in the desired FF axle.... in theory at least.

I have seen someone drill a hole for the toner ring sensor but he then proceded to fill in the gaps with a half tube of rtv. not interested. but thanks for the info on the E350. let me know if you know of anyone that may have one of these lying around.

e350 d60

I have one with the toner ring still on the carrier. I would be interested in trading for your semifloater if you'll measure the width. This D60 has the large bore spindles too.
