So I trashed my Dodge 1500 pulling a trailer. It's gonna need a new rear axle and transfer. I figure while I am replacing them I will go ahead to go to Dana 60's front and rear. The front axle I bought for it has the passenger side axle pulled out and it has the vacuum connect deal . Looks like an obvious point of failure to me, so I am wondering who has done the long side axle that deletes that ? Do you recommend someone ? I was also thinking maybe just sleeve it with a tight fitting piece of DOM and weld the pieces together ? I won't doing and serious wheeling with the truck, I am just trying to make it stronger for towing and give the axles some longevity, plus I plan to lift it and don't want to tear anything up with bigger tires.

I've seen one in person. It was basically a block off plate and a 1-piece axle. I'm thinking you have to get the bearing out of there to make room for the new axle shaft. Not a bad idea to get rid of the vacuum crap. However, if I did that to my rig, I would want to do a lock out hub conversion at the same time. That's a lot of coin, but worth it to me.

Not sure why you think it's a point of failure other than because it's vacuum operated. I would either just do a posi-lok, which works great, or a hub conversion with manual lockouts (expensive).

we have the conversion kits in stock all you need is a shaft and seal.

Chase, I searched on your site, but can't locate it, do you have a link you can post up?

I have been thinking about this for my tow rig.
