Looking to add two small fans to move some air. Was hoping to stay around 4". I'm going to mount them to the cage at the dash.
What y'all got? (info wise)

HMMWV, Louisiana summer heat. I mounted a couple of the metal 2 speed ones from Napa. They “moved air” but I don’t think they were worth the $$. I have an inverter in the truck and have just used a cheap box fan, works way better. I’m sure that’s not an option but just my .02

I just put an $11 fan from Walmart in my XJ, it was back near the stereos and such. Little thing is awesome to help out. The cord is long enough I moved it to the back and let it blow on my 2yr old and he fell asleep. Now when riding alone I keep it behind me and let it blow on me. I like it so much I’m probably gonna pick up another one! I think it’s a 6”. I’ll snap a pic shortly.

No pictures, but several years ago, I made a roll bar bracket & mounted a plastic fan to my front roll bar. It's in the center, & after the fan lock gave out, I just zip tied it to blow on my face & head. It's been a Great help, when the heat is stifling, even if it's blowing hot air. Only thing I don't understand, is How this Chinese fan is Still running? The clip on fans I get at Walmart, barely last 1 year, in my dump truck, before the bearings go out!
The position of my fan, does block much of the rear view mirror, but I'm Not going to screw it to the dash!

Here’s mine. Could easily be mounted to a more rigid permanent mount.

We have a bunch of these. I think they run $12/ea. Have one we bought 7yrs ago at a truck stop in South Carolina that's still kicking.

Excellent for the kids in the back of a hot Jeep!

for 4" fans in the dash, grab some PC fans (out of old computers). Most are 12 volt and can be wired with the red and black wires in the bundle (just cut off the third and/or fourth wires). They move some air and are moderately quiet.

Those clip on s, at $12.99/Walmart, are what last 1 year attached to sun visor of a dump truck. I Can't imagine it get shook any more or harder than Trail riding in my CJ. That poor ol thing in my CJ, has a broken mount, & zip tied in, from the Beating. But the Motor still runs!

Well this has been a total clusterfuck! I've been to truck stops and local auto parts stores where I've seen them but NO!, Even bought some and paid for SAME DAY SHIPPING on Amazon, but no they are fucking massive and not going in my rig! Six and seven inch fans are too big. I want a 4" fan that i can screw into place and be freaking happy! Got O Mitey things do not have to be this hard! I've had these fans in trucks in the past and a 4" fan did just what I wanted. What the Hell?

I've been looking around at fans as I'm about to ride part of the hot rod power tour in a truck with no AC. The "tornado" fan on Amazon is 4.25" diameter, but it has a deep barrel. I've also seen some "dual" fans on amazon, based on scale appear to be 4-5" diameter, you could probably take them apart and mount them separately. I've also considered taking a 4" boat bilge fan, mounting below the dash and ducting air where I want it.

You could also look at some of the USB powered fans, I believe are around 4", not sure of their output. You could probably wire a couple of those in series and be safe running off 12v, or just run them off a USB adapter. My wife has a 4" 110v fan sitting at the computer desk at home that has decent output for its size.

Only 4" fans I've seen, were cooling fans for computers & such. At 1 time I did have one, full metal, cooled something under the hood of a foreign car.

FJ40s used to have cooling fans that blew on the carburetor. I think earlier ones had a regular blade fan mounted by the radiator blowing on the carb, and later ones had a ducted squirrel cage fan on the fender to blow on the carb.
