My 84 22r yota will turn over but not crank up. I thought it was too low on gas put more in it and still nothing. What could it be?

Need to pull a plug wire and see if it has fire going to plug if it doesn't could be coil/ignitor or something in the distributor. If you have fire try some starting fluid if it will hit with that your fuel pump may be bad.

He is correct.

Engine needs 4 things to run, and it is usually one of the first two missing.

Fuel
Ignition
Compression
Timing

Coil/ignitors are bad to go out on these. I have a couple I think if you end up needing one.

My bet is the ingnitor is dead. Check to see if you've got spark. If not, there's your problem. You also probably need to pull the plugs and clean 'em off with brake clean since they're probably fouled. post in the parts wanted section cause they're like $300 new from vato zone and more from the dealer. I went through this a couple of years ago.

the ignitor, you mean the ignition coil? If this was it would it make sense that it started up a couple times the morning before it became dead all of a sudden?

No not the coil. The thing under it. Silver box with 4 legs on it that the coil bolts to. Check the coil first though as it's MUCH cheaper. About the only way to check is to install a known good one. Basically, the Ignitor powers the coil so if you have no spark it's one of the two. Mine died while driving, so you get no warning. This was the ONLY time I've ever been stranded by a Yota.
