to all I just bought a jeep with 5 1/2" of lift on it and it has a bad case of death wobble how do I get rid of it. I am open to all suggestions. PM me or shot me an email Thanks Rob

Hmm a Jeep huh?
Just bought it?
So you bought a abrand new JK with 5" of lift and it has DW?
Or did you buy a CJ3B with DW?

Please help us here, there are a lot of smart people here, who are very willing to help, but they need more info.

Make/model/details about vehicle.
Lift style and brand if known.
And what you have checked, tested, verified.

As it stands my advice is to replace every suspension and steering component and all bushig and see if problem remains

I'm guessing it's the grand cherokee with 5.5" lift in his sig. Just a guess though.

Unit bearings, control arm bushings, tie rod ends, wheels, tires, balancing, steering box, ball joints... It could be anything. You will find the most info by using the search tab. Type in "death wobble". This subject has been beat to death on here and I know alot of people aren't going to chime in with help cause it gets old repeating everything over and over. Once you read everything come back with what you have checked, replaced and what is in question. The more details you give the better answer you'll get. I'm not trying to be a d!ck, I'm just trying to get you the most help. I've encountered death wobble numerous times and I know how frusturating it is.

Definitely Make sure your trac-bar is tight! Ps. i sold my jeep because i got tired of dumping money into finding what causes DW in Coil Sprung jeeps...so i bought a CJ:flipoff2:

Doesn't bought usually imply money changed hands? :flipoff2:

I'm having the same problem with my cherokee and i have 4.5 springs......I think that I'm gonna make some longer LCAs and try to get my caster at the right angle

dw

Well i had 7.5" coils in the front of my XJ and had long arms on it with big daddy tie rod and heavy duty RE adjustable trac bar and i still had death wobble.....the only cure i found was to sell the damn jeep..

Air pressure in your two front tires... Try changing it and see if the DW "sweet spot" changes.

If it's at 5.5" lift and has stock length arms, that would be my first part changed out. You need some way to properly set the caster, the stock cam bolts don't have enough adjustment. I went with RE adjustable superride arms when i jacked mine to 5.5"

Check the alignment of the panhard vs the drag link. Run two pieces of string across and check the distance's between the two mount points. My guess is one of the two need +/- a drop bracket.

The death wobble is all because of you steering system. Drop pitman arms don't always fix the prob, it didn't on mine, all you need are the basic lifting rules in steering....
1. Make sure you have strong leaf springs (no ad-leafs, they will bend and cause DW)
2. Don't not use/make longer Shackles in the front (up to 3/4 is fine)
3. The upper tie rod needs to be as close to level as possible (it may just need drop pitman arm for lower lifts, but like mine, you may need to put the upper and/or lower tie rods above the leaf springs.

If you have these three things you can go 70mph and let your hands of the wheel!
