what muffler should i get for my 4.ol so that is deep and loud

my buddy had a regular delta 40 on his and it sounded pretty good. He also just cut the exhaust off at the cats if you really want LOUD!!

I've got a flowmaster 50 series on mine, just a nice little 'non-stock' rumble. Really, it's an I6, it's never gonna sound that good. WHen really loud, it's sounds like crap

im thinkin about taking the stock muffler off and running just the cat till i get a new one will it really sound like crap

ohh it sounds horrible...there is no "deep" sound if you cut the muffler off..just a loud obnoxious noise

I have a donkey dick intake with a kn cone filter, throttle body spacer, bigger throttle body, banks headers, and used to have a gibson cat back on my 4.0. I loved the way it sounded and had a lot of people telling me it was the best sounding 6cyl they heard. Then I replaced the gibson for a banks stainless exhaust and am not as happy with the tune but its still decent. I have a buddy with just a gibson on his 4.o w/ 2.5" pipes and it sounds real good too.

i run a dynomax arochamber (however you spell it) it sound awsome on my 4 liter very deep and when your gettin on it is sounds way better than a flowmaster or what ever

i am very happy with my banks exhaust, banks headers, magnaflow high flow cat, and banks muffler with 2.5" tail pipe.... great deep tone, i'm told quite loud, but personally i consider it more audible due to it's full sound. It never hurts your ears or makes people plug their ears, but is heard from a distance.

never heard the Gibson though.

cherry bomb :kaioken:

I totally screwed the exhaust on my 4.2 this weekend trail riding.. i was thinking of throwing a cherry bomb on there but wasnt sure how it would sound, have you heard one with that type of muffler on it?

Yeah, its loud and annoying as crap... for as cheap as you can get other mufflers, i wouldnt put one of these on a 4.0L...

IMO, get a stock type replacement cuz an I6 isnt ever gonna sound really good...

DING DING DING

You win the stuffed monkey.

well im running it right now with no muffler and personally i like it but i have a glasspack to put on soon

i might try that cause my friend wants my glasspack now its loud and i live in hick town so i fit in but all my buddys think it sounds beastly but we are proubably immature

we are proudly immature
Fixed!

The Thrush turbo, may be a little on the quiet side for you but it's not completely silent either. I'll say this, it will help the rest of us in the eyes of society. The public image of wheelers in general, is not that great to begin with. we appear to be obnoxious enough as it is. Of course your young, & I'm old, so do what you thinks best. I'm not too old to appreciate the music of a properly tuned exhaust note!

its better than a 1million watt system lol

on my old 4.2 yj i had no cat and a glass pack, with 2.25" pipes, after about 2 weeks when the muffler broke in it sounded real nice, had a nice rumble at idle and a very nice growl to it, more like a v8 than any other 6cyl, and yes i would know what a good v8 sounds like, i own 5 cars with v8's, 2 '72 GM muslce cars both with true
duals, it sounded much like this but a little less rumble at idle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Bwrz5kTeLY,

now in my tj i've got a glasspack and a 2.5" tailpipe and it sounds quite agressive also, low tone to it and it really growls when you get on it but it never has the 'rumble' at idle like that video and like v8's have it just has a low kind of loud tone
