Delete it PLEASE !

I agree, sucks searching thru posts PM'ing the dumbass seller, waiting for a reply, get one that says item has been sold. Some half dumbasses update their post with SOLD, I hate that too, but at least you know right away.

As a mod in the for sale section I delete those that are posted sold. Although, it isn't my responsibility. The rules clearly ask that ads be deleted once item is sold.

FYI, they automatically delete if the thread hasn't been posted to or checked for I think 90 days,

PLEASE do not go posting in the old threads dredging them up, it makes a mess and takes awhile to reset itself.

Safe bet is to presume anything 30days or older is either gone or interest for the sale has been lost.

so how about when somebody just posts sold instead of deleting, ban them for a day so they dont make the same mistake again
This seems a little excessive. At least they posted it sold. Its the ones that don't say sold and get your hopes up that are a real disappointment.

The only reason I can see for keeping old threads is that I can go back and look at prices that other people have listed, and sometimes, what they actually sold for.

Every once and awhile I wanna sell something that I have no idea how to price, so its nice to be able to look back and see.

I personally don't see what's so bad about old threads(as long as they say SOLD on them).

Other than for using them as a reference, there's no real use for old posts.

I for one hate that we allow hard deleting of sold posts.

I like having the thread to fall back on in the case of a transaction dispute

FWIW I do delete ads that say sold. Only because thats what Rob pays me $24.86 an hour to do! (Yeah right!)
IMHO I would like to be able to keep the sold items up for a period of time. My thinking is that if I am interested in something and I go back looking for it, I will know it's been sold. No further need to try and talk to the guy(or gal). Granted, as a Mod, I can see the deleted posts, but most people can't

The adds are normally a "soft delete" as vodoo said they hard delete after a certain time. I believe one of the admin. goes in & cleans out the "soft deletes" once a month.

No matter what happens any where you can't please the masses.
