Ok not trying to get a fight started just looking for vids or dyno sheets.

i see Dodge cummins diesels putting down over 450 hp and 950 tq like its nothing to it.

What can a modded ford or chevy do. I just haven't found any that are putting down the big numbers.

D'maxes are 400hp/765tq stock now.

Fords are a touch less, but still in the ballpark.

Ram is 350hp/800tq.

Bottom line, any of those truck w/a small tune would hit your numbers.

oh ok so a 2010 or newer hitting those numbers is nothing more than a chip but the older models hitting they are doing a little work got ya

The need trucks make good power with your basic programmer intake exhaust due to there fuel delivery common rail injection has made a world of difference in these trucks not only in power but fuel economy as well. If you want the big power you got to pay to play ie headstuds built tranny injectors and turbo. A lot of people throw a programmer on there truck turn it all the way up think since its rolling coal its making power but all they're doing is cooking the pistons. Imo if its a dodge get yourself a TST Smarty programmer a decent intake exhaust and gauges especially egt. Solaryellow05 is the diesel guy to talk to on here.

Older ones too. When I worked for Cummins they got an extra 175hp with a tune on one of the engines, this was in 1999. Of course, this was just a guy screwing around with it on a test stand, but still pretty cool.

you're on the internet all day long, mannnn - online forums, articles, videos, mags... you should know this

For NC:
Buck Spruill (OBX) ~1300whp duramax

Brian Jelich (Currituck) ~1000ish whp powerstroke

as for cummins... no clue who, where, but iirc there are a few pullers up in yadkin with 1400ish hp engines (maybe Olee Poole has/had a 900+ whp street truck???)

Jess Spruill...damn close anyway.

There are more than a handfull in the yadkin, forsyth area with shied built motors pushing well into the 1300hp+ range, granted they are all 12v's and strictly pullers. There are many more in our area that running 600-700hp daily driven trucks but they are mostly cummins powered trucks. Generally the common rail and electronic trucks make power more easily but are typically a little less reliable (electronic parts like injectors), but you cant beat a 12v for good numbers and reliability.

One thing ive noticed while doing research is the cummins seems to make more power on stock components (stock rods, pistons, ect.) than duramax or powerstrokes. Not saying they cant do it just seems they tend to be built more at the same power levels.

Gus Farmer runs one of the highest horsepower vp powered trucks in the country and does it with a good amount of reliability. I think the last numbers shown were like 850hp which is a good number on a vp truck.

In the end if you want to see big numbers check out some shied built trucks like Let It Roll, Sleepless Nights, and I cant remember the name of Faith Millers truck but her and her husband run trucks. Jaquelin that runs sleepless nights and her dad has a truck to.You also have trucks like Tim Vestal, and the Brandon Farms truck and these are all nc trucks and local to me. Its amazing how many high hp diesels there are around.

You can make big numbers with a Duramax, Powerstroke, or Cummins. You just have to have deeper pockets if you have a Duramax or Powerstroke. And even deeper pockets if you want reliability. The reason you see so many more heavily modded Cummins truck is because it is a lot cheaper. And the fact that an inline 6 cylinder is much more reliable than a V-8.

speaking of diesel trucks in our area. have you heard of that new shop that opened up in King, NC? just wondering cause Im seeing all kinds of trick stuff coming out of there. even seen some duces rollin around there. I havent stopped in to check it out, for one thing i dont own a diesel and another I dont know anything about the diesel following. just a fyi if anyone wants to check it out.

Its not a new shop Grant has been there 3 or 4 years. He did the head gasket work on my cummins. He is a very smart guy and a great mechanic. Prices arent to bad either. Stop by and talk to him one day he is a great guy to talk to. He actually worked for Tracy at XXX diesel for many years but left because of the way Tracy treated customers.
