Ditching the Keurig

My wife brought a Keurig with her when she moved in, I switched out a kitchen faucet shutoff valve for a double dishwasher stop valve and plumbed a line through the lower kitchen cabinets with a shutoff valve and a flex line into the reservoir to make refilling a snap, and we use the refillable plastic k-cups. We grind beans with our Ninja spice grinder and keep them in an airtight jar next to the thing. Pretty much always ready to go. I hated the hassle of refilling the reservoir until I plumbed that line now it's no problem at all.

Have been using a $9.99 electric kettle and a couple Bodum presses (one was lost in transit, replaced, and promptly found 🙄) for years... started with ground, went whole bean, and finally found something in the "pretty good" category ground.
Even my Mom (diehard K-cupper) has ditched it in favor of a press... and found 4sq/ft of countertop the whole deal (k-Cup and mini-filing cabinet for various cups)!

Spray hoses are great for this, too. Pull the faucet out, fill the coffee maker,

Or adding it to the kids’ chore list. Make sure the dog has water, make sure the Keurig has water. When they mix the two up, after a couple times you really don’t even taste the Purina slobber anymore.

thats the one thing I miss about the keurig is filling the resevoirup like 2x a week. Instead of every nnight before bed.
That and dumping the grounds our and cleaning the reusable filter.

But waking up at 4:#0 and the coffee already being ready is worht it..
