DIY beadlocks

should be fine just use soapy water and an air hose to check for leaks before turning all those bolts

actually, this all depends on what type of weld on beadlocks you are using.

If you are using the type xjay and i are using, the inner ring welds on to the lip of the rim. In this case, the high spots don't matter because the tire doesn't seat on the weld.

However, if you are using a kit that sits "inside" the lip on the wheel, and the tire actually seats up against the weld, then yes, you should make it flat and smooth. But i don't know of very many of those being used anymore.

hope this helps.

I used the one that weld on the inside lip. I just knocked off the high spots, did no grind them flat, no issues, no leaks.

just knock the high spots down a little. it doesn't have to be perfectly flat, buy you dont' want any overly large high spots (or low spots)
