I want to install a bed liner in my truck since I am painting it but the quote I got were way too much and I have heard bad things about the diy stuff peeling and such ... i was curious since the bed wont take too much abuse (really just want a non-slippery surface) could I roll a paint and sand mixture into the bed ... the paint is an enamel tractor paint so it is very durable and i was thinking with sand mixed in it should look too bad and it should be slip resistant right? any input or opinions would be greatly appreciated! thanks

DIY beadliners are great its just all about the prep. If you dont prep the bed exactly like the instructions say then you will have the peeling etc....... And dont go cheap, get the HERCULINER. Its good stuff, has great instructions, and looks great. Go over to the build thread section and page 2 or 3 I think of my IH scout II build thread and take a look at how it came out.

Dittos on Herculiner. I did my YJ interior with it. Got tired of the oil soaked smell.
Very easy to do. And short money compared to other PSE (pay someone else) options.

I Herc'ed my old Dakota, and I thought I did a good job prepping....scothcbrite, xylene wipe, repeat, repeat. It held up OK, but I did scrape some off while working mulch out of the back. I used black, and it faded to gray after a few years. You could see how faded it had got by comparing it to the 2 foot section under the toolbox. For $70 a can (covered my 8ft Dakota bed plus CJ-7 nerf bars), its not a bad deal, but definitley not the same as the spray-in. My current truck has PO-installed Linex, its nice.

PM me if you want some good stuff. Doesn't have as much solvents in it as the other DIY liners, and won't fade like all the other DIY liners.

The stuff is really tough and I've sold over 100 gallons with no complaints at all. :)
