Wondering if single shear heim joints would be safe for my 94 gmc tie rod ends? Anyone made their own with Dom tubing and what heims would be safest/strongest for my dd burb?

I looked at doing it on my 2500HD because the price of upgraded tie rods for a Duramax truck are kinda high, but once it was all said and done, I'd have had more money tied up in parts than just buying the big ass tie rods they sell for them. I would also have had to drill out all of my tapered holes for bolts, weld up the threaded inserts in the DOM, buy hardware, and make/source an adapter clevis to hold the heims to the center link. I think the rod ends actually bolt to your centerlink though, whereas my inner tie rod ends thread in to the end.

You could always just ream them to fit 1-ton tie rod ends and make some tie rods out of DOM like you were planning anyway.
