Would you like to have a new OHV trail opportunity in eastern TN less than 4 hours from the Central Piedmont area of NC?

http://nc4x4.com/forums/showthread.php?p=840788&posted=1#post840788

Let's get an email campaign started from the NC4x4 community to encourage Cocke County, TN in their efforts to start an OHV park! Even though we are NC residents, a large showing of email support from our community will show that there is a large base of OHV'ers that will support such an effort.

All you have to do is send an email stating your support for this venture along with the fact that you would use an OHV park in this area! Do it TODAY!

What did someone tell me when my friend got hit on Round Mountain by a stolen Jeep that fled the scene, "nothing good comes from Cocke county." LMAO...still close and some good riding up there.

Not only sent - but also posted on JKOwners.com in the Southeast section - should get to 500 for sure...

that may have been me and I think I quoted it as, "Nothing worth a shit has ever come from Cocke County". I'll stand by that statement to this day. However, I'm all for new places to ride :flipoff2:

I didn't get a reply :( He hates me?

Seriously, this project was discussed at the SFWDA Leadership Meeting I attended last weekend. SFWDA was consulted as well as several other parties, notably TDEC, TWRA and TOHVA. The problem Cocke County faces in this project is that they don't actually own the land. Unfortunately, as I understand it, these trails they propose would be in Cherokee National Forest which is managed by Region 8, USFA under the USDA. As we all know, Region 8 has a standing policy of trail obliteration, not trail construction! As much as I would like to see this project happen, I'm extremely skeptical that they can pull this off.

Another problem they face is that another county, Grundy, Monteagle, TN area, with privately owned land, has applied for the same TWRA funds and according to the information I received at the SFWDA meeting their project may be further along in the process.

I'm pulling for Cocke County as it's 3 hours closer for me :driver:

JC whats the status on this??? I read over on Pirate it had been killed,is that true ???? I had planned on goin to the meeting but the date snuck up on me and I missed it.

I know that TDEC approved giving the money to Grundy County for their project in the South Cumberland Recreation Area. I don't know if that means Cocke County is out, if they have to wait for more money to be available, or what. I do know that with Cocke County not owning the land they proposed using for the trails and with it being National Forest land, their chances of making something happen there are slim at best :(

Quoted from DRM on Pirate.
From what I understand, the road access issue was too much for them to overcome and the Cocke Co. deal fell through.
