anyone know if the Dodge CAD assembly or shift fork is the same for the 44 and the 60. I saw one post somewhere saying it is, some say it isn't. Some online places list them as 44/60 CAD posilock kits but nothing definitive yet...some insight would be great, thanks anyone/everyone.

I'm no engineer or fabricator but any reason why I couldn't make a shift fork for my Dodge 60 CAD and put it on some kind of sleeve to make it work. I cannot locate one anywhere for the 60, junkyards that have em won't separate from the axle, and the ones that do separate think they're worth gold ....

Is it just the fork you need?

QA4628 ALUM CAD SHIFT FORK

Looks to me like this one (and probably the OEM one) fit a number of different applications.

see that's what I mean, according to the website you found and another one I found they are the same for the 1500 and 2500 trucks and jeep D44s I guess...wouldn't you agree.
and no I need the whole assembly that the shift fork sits on cause it hold the axles suspended off the housing seals. All mine has is just the collar

aww heck , it says D30 on it...game on dude game on. forget $60 bucks, those things are given away and I know someone who has several sitting in his shop ....SWEETNESS so I suppose the shift fork is the same if the housing and everything else works for jeep D30, d44, and d60 right?

Seems like it should be. Why, do you have one laying around? Try it. If it fits, it fits. That fork only gets stressed by engaging the 4WD. It "shouldn't" see anything from the actual wheeling. Unless something was really forked up. (see what I did there?)

Nah, look under "vehicle fitment..." Plug in 94 Ram 3500. It's there. I'd eat my own shorts if I saw a 3500 Ram on a D30.

no I don't, if I did, you know my hack butt would've ghetto fabbed it up to work HAHA but I know who does from here, he has several

I'm glad I know I can use the older vacuum style ones rather than electric, put a vacuum switch on it and works awesome like I did in my D30s. forget electric, full engine vacuum works flawlessly and engages super smooth and quick compared to the factory "step down" vacuum it uses. Well I'm glad this is another problem off my plate solved for now and for fairly cheap, thanks @Scooter402 for the links and helping clarify what will fit.

that kit shows the fork and everything being compatable for all makes of jeep xj, YJ, and dodge 1500-3500 series so apparently all the same till 2000 model trucks changed to a smaller fork. GOLDEN!!!

funny now I know why the D30 CAD axle ends are so HUGE like BIGFOOT HUGE lol, cause they are the same size as the bigger axles since they were all designed with same part...now that's some smart handy "engineering" right there bahahahaha

See? Sometimes engineers do some thinking and forward planning (or reverse compatibility) :D

Probably more so for reasons of reduced cost of tooling and manufacturing of components, if one could be used in many applications...that's why automakers don't retool every single year like they used to back in the good ol' days of actual American made cars.

yeah I wanna meet that guy who done this setup and shake his hand....(but then I find out he designed the hub assembly on this 60 and have to slap him BAHAHAHA):lol::lol::lol: that's funny right there....I'm so stressed I needed a good laugh
