Hey Yall,
I'm lookin for opinions on aftermarket lift pumps for the Dodge.

I have a 2001 2500 with a NV4500 and Edge EZ. Other than the Edge EZ and the straight exhaust with Magnaflow muffler, it's stock...I've been planning to swap the lift pump for a while now, but, you know how other crap is always gettin to the front of the line.

I understand the 2 best are the airdog 100 and the fass 95.
any others out there worth lookin at? Pros & cons ?

thanks,
Steve

I've got the same year truck and have been running the FASS pump for about 3-4 years now. I have been very happy with it.

I have a 99 Dodge and I run the Airdog 150 the fass and the airdog are pretty much the same they actually share the same design from what i was told, at the time the airdog was cheaper so if you go with the fass you'll be spending the extra cash on the Fass name.
If you don't want the relocated filters and just want an inline pump you could always get a big holley or carter electric fuel pump and just plumb it inline and use the stock filter and lines but for me the filters where plus since the stock one is kinda aggravating to change.

Both are fairly simple installations, and will be nearly the same. I have the FASS on my 01 and prefer it 10 to 1 over the Glacier I have on my 04. I cannot speak for the airdog, but I have always been told they are basically the same as the FASS. Either one should have been done when you bought the truck, because the factory lift pumps are garbage and yours probably isn't supplying enough to the injection pump now and you just don't relize it. They are cheap insurance against a 2k plus injector pump.

airdog 100. easy install and works great...

I had to unbolt the bed and lift it up about a foot in order to connect the fuel line to the tank. That was about the hardest part of installing the FASS.

Has your pump been relocated to inside the tank? If so, then that will kind of limit your options. If not, then your options are wide open. Fass and Airdog both offer a pump that comes with a full big line kit from tank to factory fuel filter that is very simple to install. It does not relocate the filters. It utilizes the factory filter and factory pickup in the tank, if your pump has not been moved to the tank. The next step up will bypass the oem filter setup, relocate the fuel filter and water separator underneath the truck. You can either use a draw straw (you will have to drop the tank or pull the bed to install) or the factory pickup if your pump isn't in the tank. The next step up will only come with a draw straw and not utilize the oem pickup. FASS uses 3/8 line and Airdog uses 1/2 line. For your application if you do not want to make much more power, I think your best option would be the Raptor by Airdog if your pump isn't in the tank. The raptor also has adjustable pressure.

Install is fairly simple for any of these. The hardest part is getting the hose onto the pushlok fittings. You mount the pump under the bed on the frame, run the lines, drop the tank if you have to, run the wiring. The wiring will connect to the factory fuel pump plug under the hood, along with a hot and ground directly to the battery. There is no splicing. It can be difficult to disconnect the factory fuel lines at the top of the tank. Just be patient with the them. I can give you some pointers as to how to do it the simplest way.

X2 on what solar said. I've been running an airdog for 3yrs now with zero issues. Edge comp box wide open with 75hp sticks and I don't think i've ever seen the FP gauge dip below 13:huggy:

I'm fixin to have a look in there and see if the pump was moved to the tank.

Another thing you might want to look into when you do this is a sump for your trucks tank check out www.hellmannperformance.com its $165 and I wish I had done it to my truck whenever I get up to it I will drop my tank and install the sump no worrying about if the pickup tube will suck in air or did you cut it to short or anything like that. I also would suggest that whatever manufacturer you get get a pump with the filters relocated much easier to get to than the stock 1 and that alone makes it worth it. If you have any questions on anything at all you can pm me or cause I've installed 10 of these atleast and my buddy actually is a dealer for airdog and fass and many other diesel performance oriented companies and me and him install everything we sell or can tell you how to do it yourself. Good luck man and change from that stock pump soon cause its just killing that VP everytime its ran.
