Hey everybody i got an 01 dodge ram 1500 with the 5.9L 360 it throws a cyl 1 misfire code. but it doesnt misfire. when you first start the truck is surges until it comes up to temp then it runs beautiful. i've changed plugs, wires, cap and rotor, checked injectors out, cleaned the throttle body but i cant figure out why its doing this anybody had this happen or know how to fix it?

Its almost positively the plenum gasket on the bottom of the intake manifold. Once you fix the gasket you'll more than likely have to drain the fuel tank and clean it with alcohol then move on to the injectors. What happens is when that gasket goes oil gets into the vacuum system which goes into the charcoal canister and then gets pumped into the tank. You can usually clean the injectors by taking them out and pouring alcohol in the top and using jumper wires to a 12v battery. Hook one wire to the ground on the battery and a post on the injector then the other on the other post of the injector and tap the end of it on the positive side of the batt. Dont apply voltage for more than a second or two you'll burn them up. You'll have to do this a bunch and you can tell when their clean because the alcohol will come out clear not oily. I've had good luck cleaning them this way hopefully it'll work for you.

alright thanks man i'll try that.

Look down the throttle body, if u see oil, yep.
Also pull the pcv out of the valve cover, and the breather tube out of the other vc. Plug 1 hole and see if the engine creates a vacume, if it does the lower plenum gasket is plown out. Done many of them, a comon problem.
