OK, I want a sliding back window in my Dodge.
I've gotten quotes from $350 all the way up over $800.
I'ver heard DON'T buy a slider out of a salvaged truck cause they'll cut the seal and it will NEVER seal.
Then another shop said No problem, it'll just be $80-$150 for install.
I've heard we don't recommend aftermarket sliders because they don't fit right. I think I've heard every dang story there is. I just want a sliding back window and if I'm going to spend $600 to do it, It had better rub my neck while I'm driving down the road and be a power slider. I am starting to miss my old F-Series trucks that the slider window could be purchased for $150 and I could install myself in 15-30 minutes. Depending on how long it took me to find the right rope size.

DOES ANYONE on here know anything about this that I can talk to before I spend my money, I want to spend it once and I don't want to spend too much and I want to be happy with what I have because I am Hoping to enjoy and use the thing after it is installed.
THANKS!

buy one from a scrap yard. cut the old one out. the new one comes with the molding around the window hopefully. find some rope/string about the size of the channel in the glass. put the string in the glass channel with the excess rope inside the truck. have someone in the bed slightly push the glass toward the cab while pulling the rope out. works like butter. shouldnt leak. hope that helps and dont confuse.

It is my understanding that the Dodge windows don't have a "Gasket" and are bonded in basicaly the same as a windshield. I have done MANY sliding back glass windows that pop in using rope and a little pressure in all the right points. One out of a salvage yard would need to be CUT out by a Glass professional.

hmmmmmm......

didnt/dont know that about dodges. leave it to chrysler:shaking:

I had a buddy who had a 98 model with a slider. It leaked from the factory. He bought the truck brand new, Dodge put 3 or 4 windows in it leaked every time. He finally told them to put a solid glass in the truck and his leaking problems went away.
