Dropped my laptop, cracked the screen...

how do I fix this? Just buy a new screen and drop it in myself? Ive found a replacement for 150$$...just wondering if this is the right way to go...

Yep. Depending on what comp you have, it's pretty simple to replace the screen. Check ebay for sure before buying anything.

If you've got a couple year old pos, consider just buying a new computer though.

And from now on, no more drunk myspacing/porn.

go buy you a getac laptop. you wont have to worry about dropping it anymore. www.getac.com i got pissed at my rig and threw mine, and it still works

Its not more than 2 years old....its still a decent computer, plus I barley have enough cash to buy a new screen, much less a new computer.

I actually wasnt drunk, just clumsy. The crack really isnt that terrible, I can still see 98% of the stuff on my screen...

u are lucky i cracked mine and i can see about 5% of my screen. new screen for mine (mac powerbook) is 600 bucks. Applecare actually told me id be better off buying a new laptop. which would be over 2grand the way i want one. so i bought a cheap screen at walmart and just plug it into my laptop. good as new till i get 2000 bucks

And that ladies and gentlemen is why I do not buy anything Apple besides Ipod's (and only then because essentially they have a lock on the MP3 player market..)

In any case, I guess I'll just buy a new screen when I have some spare cash. I dont play many games on my laptop anymore anyways...so its all good.

Oh, just wondering, do you guys prefer glossy screens over matte or matte over glossy? My current one is a matte screen...just wondering If I should switch out to glossy now that I have the chance..

Glossy does look better if you are viewing movies.

I don't like the way that it reflects anything bright behind you, like a window. Matte for me because of that. Glossy screen is a deal-killer for me.

Okay, then Matte it is. Ive got a DVD player for watching movies haha.

And a 32" LCD HDTV :bounce:

The LCD is in the living room. Currently I dont have a dedicated desk for my laptop, which is one of the reasons it broke (because if I had one, id most likely leave it there 99% of the time)

I suppose since im technically the only one living here right now, I could do that, but Id have to get an SVideo cable...

well the real problem is the room I have to put a desk. I dont have much left in my bedroom, and have yet to find anything decent.
