Got an idea I feel would help this board out alot. Make it so you have to be a donating member to post a for sale item, not just pics with the for sale item. This would cut out the spamer's( even though the mods do a good job and banning them quick) and cut out lot of these other sellers that cause head aches by not reading the stickies. Let's face sell anything on here and you've paid for the donation.

Agreed, that sounds like a pretty good idea.

In all seriousness, if you have the money to have extra parts to sell, you should have the money to donate to the site.
 
Sounds like a good idea. If you stand to profit from the site, then the site should profit from you.
 
Damn Rich is donating the labor to get it going, with all this new found cash Ron might actually be seen on the trails...

As long as it is only to post NEW threads, and not a requirement for reading, replying, or the Wanted section, I'm in agreement.
 
what about the fella that has nothing to offer this site other than his junk for way too cheap???

I would hate to lose all the good screaming deals that pop up occasionally just because they dont know what their crap is worth... my .02

Very valid point. Also there are alot of people with a decent deal out there, that have a decent deal because they are strapped for cash. I've bought alot of good parts off people that were in much worse need of half of what it's worth than they were the part/vehicle in question.
 
that think that is a good idea for the guys that sell junk alot (like me, I have something for sell ever few weeks) but what about some new guy that is just trying to sell his junk and has never been here? we have got a few people hooked on this board that came to us just because they were trying to sell thier junk. Maybe have a 30-60 day wait period before a donation is required.

Valid point.... BUT... membership here is VERY cheap... about a beer at a bar. And, my suspicion is that this would lead to a fairly significant increase in revinue - perhaps that would even allow lowering the membership cost even more.
Come on, $5 for membership is pretty minimal. This is less than most folks spend on a spir-of-the-moment sandwhich for lunch. if that $5 is going to eliminate all of the profit of your sales, for a YEAR, then you need to more help than you will get here.

As an example.. a few weeks ago, I went to post my XJ for sale on NAXJA. I have a board membership but have not paid. Low and behold, you must pay there to post in Fopr Sale. I went to go get a membership, and to pay, just for this purpose - but the fee is way too mcuh ($28 I think?). When I have no intention of selling XJ stuff again, it's not worth it.
BUT - had teh fee been $5 - like it is here - I would have....
 
WOW, qouted 4 times in a thread. this proves that even a blind squirrel can get a nut sometimes...........

how about only mods can see the non donating members for sale stuff and we will see if it is benefical to the board...after of course we cherry pick it.
 
I like the idea, but agree with the others too... Maybe a compromise would be something like mentioned, and give them so many posts in the for sale section, or a certain time limit before they cant post or haveto donate...

Like Dave said, Ive been to other forums where you had to pay mucho $$$ to be a member or have a large number of posts before you could sale something, and it discouraged me really quick...
 
I find it kind of interesting that only one non-paid up member has contributed to this post...

Why not just do away with the 21 and under deal if your a paid member as well? I see no reason to group all the underaged guys into one giant mass, when the ones who pay up are obviously ones who are dedicated to the site enough to donate. BUT thats just me talking, I'll be 21 soon enough, so its whatever really..

I'm against it. I just think that to alot of people, it would be viewed as crap, just like how Naxja is viewed now after doing the same thing. I just think it would turn alot of traffic away from the site. And I'm going to be pissed if I lose a sale to someone, b/c they are not on the site because they have not donated in order to post.

Just my .02
