I need to get one made. I'm not replacing a stock one on a zook w/ another stock one. They're kinda flimsy hard to work with, and mine is bent.
I just figure I can have one made. Where can I get it done in Winston Salem.....or at least in the triad?

Matt

I might be able to do it myself...I do have a lathe. How about suggestions for DIY material?

I sell all the parts you need if you take the DIY route. Or there are plenty of shops your way, GoFerIt Offroad, the RockShop, Jims Garage, etc.

Stock tie rod ends or heims? Either buy or make some threaded bungs and weld to some 1 1/4" DOM. Sleeve it with some smaller tube for extra strength. Not too hard to do with a little patience :)

OK...I'm stoopid and admit it. I dont need the draglink. It's the other one ...from knuckle to knuckle. Is that the tie-rod?

Anyway...it's balljoints on both ends.

I was thinking 1", 1.25", or 1.5" with .25 wall thickness. Or maybe even more and just thread the ends.
Or...drill and tap a solid bar. Steel or aluminum.

Thoughts? suggestions?

Thanks for the ones ya'll already gave.

Matt

IMO, it depends on the size of the TREs/heims you plan to use, your comfort level to do it over should your initial choice of materials fail, and most importantly... your wallet!

FWIW, the OEM Jeep/1/2 ton TREs (11/16" threads) in a chunk of 1.25" x .375 walled DOM is @#$%^& STOUT! My dumb@$$ brother spotted me into and onto a rock (x3 :shaking: ) in Mtn.City... lesser encounters left my stock links mangled like a pretzel... the above barely got the paint scratched off!

Again it depends on your ends. Are you going to use the stock tie rod ends or heims? What is the thread pitch on the end you are going to use? Either buy or make some weld on bungs in the thread pitch you need for some 1 1/4" tube, not solid, OR get tube with the proper inside diameter to tap for the ends.
