drill hole in muffler

It will make a sound, but it won't be a very good sound. Go to AdvanceZone and get a cheap cherry bomb. $12.99 iirc.

no it won't sound good. Cut your muffler off, then cut it open and hollow it out. weld it back in. It will look stock and pass inspection, and sound a lot better than drilling a hole. Or cut it off and get a section of pipe that's 1" bigger than the rest of your pipe and put it in as a fake glass pack....passes inspection and sounds good. while you're at it, hollow out your cat too....if it's a 96 and down you don't need it other than to pass a visual inspection

that's real stupid advise! the cat is there to help protect our environment! people like you 864rNr that just keep giving the tree huggers more ammunition. that's a nice way to show this person how to be a responsible wheeler. (sarcasim)why don't you go knock down a few trees, then empty your oil into a creek... then video it and post it on you tube.... :shaking:

Tell the Tree Huggers to go after Nascar....I never seen a Cat on any of those 40 cars that run 500 miles every Sunday...I worked for Dale Jarret in the engine shop and we were doing some RD&E and we wanted to test the emmissions, and at Idle the machines was pegged off the graph. I would love to see huggers go after Nascar with all the money/sponsors in Nascar. I think we would really findout how much money is really involved. Not trying to step on toes...just when I read this it came to mind.

I completely agree w/ you;
however, 40x500 = 20,000 miles.
Sounds like a lot - until you compare it to what, 750,000 cars in NC alone driving an average of maybe 250 miles each? That's just a guess... but the point is that those guys are only a very small drop in the bucket compared to the general population.
Even if a race car puts out 5x the polution, it's such a small % it's hard to fight... and as long as it brings in big-time revenue, it won't get shut down/changed.
