Ok, today i noticed some type of squeak coming from the drive shaft, i think. I have a 1990 nissan pathfinder 4x4, and it occurs at low speeds but then goes away when i start moving faster. Its almost like, squeak, squeak squeak.. like its moving with the drive shaft.. any ideas? i heard of getting a grease gun and taking the drive shaft out and putting some grease into the splines of the shaft and the transfer case, will this work? i sprayed some wd-40 where the drive shaft connects to the t-case and it went away for a while so im thinking the grease will work...

what do you guys think??

Thanks.

when I hear a squeak I usually put some grease on it.
Sounds like you answered your own question.

yes put some grease on there...your problem will dissappear

Grease the u-joints really good. The squeek you hear gets higher pitched as you go faster. That`s why you think it goes away. May be time to replace u-joint(s)

You have a bad u-joint. When it is to the point of squeaking grease can not help it!!!! Go ahead and put joints in it or you will be putting joints, tube yokes, and balancing it after you throw it out of the vehicle.......which will cost alot more.

but it only lasts for liek 30 min then it comes back.. said that also...

thats because wd-40
is now where near as thick as grease...

But ditto on checking the Ujoints real close.
