Is it possible for me to swap the short slip yoke portion of a driveshaft to a a different longer section, assuming the splines are the same of course? If so, how would I go about it?
I bought a used driveshaft online, and one of the yoke ears is damaged. I have another yoke that I could use if the swap is possible. Or is this a trip to the driveshaft shop for cutting, welding and re-balancing?
For reference, this is the damaged ear (on the left)...

I want to take the good yoke off of the bottom driveshaft and put it on the longer tube top driveshaft...

swapping yokes is not a big deal, it may through it out of balance a little but i wouldnt worry about it. make sure that the u joints are in phase or you will have major woes

It may be as simple as getting another yoke, but they are not all the same. There are diferent spline counts, different spline diameters, different lenghts, as well as different size u-joints.

Is it as simple as pulling the yoke off? There seems to be something keeping it on. I tried pulling the hard boot off the end of the yoke to see if there was some sort of retainer, but it wouldn't budge...

Figured it out... and also proved the theory; if at first you don't succeed, hit it with a bigger hammer!

also if you cant get it off then you can stick a grease gun on the grease nipple on the driveshaft and fill it up with grease which will push the end yoke off the splines... i did the exact thing yesterday for my 8.8 swap when i couldn't get the yoke off the driveshaft.
