lets pretend you were building a new rig. 100wb, 62"wms, linked, air shocks, yota 80 front, taco rear, both e-locked. probably 40's, pretty light.
what drivetrain would you use? Why? got to be auto!
this will be a tagged trail rig. maybe drive around town a little. Coming from a buggy with a 230ish HP 4.0, 999, 300 twin sticked.

Budget? Anticipated weight? Gearing? Power needs?

You've got a lot of variables to think about, but since you want a lighter duty axle, I'd go with a lighter duty engine. You'll be snapping axles left and right with a V8. For light weight, I'd go with a 1.6L Suzuki engine or something similar with an aluminum block.

the other problem i forgot to mention about toyota duals in the PM is the length. I am still working on that problem. I am sure you want the motor as far back as possible...
