This was what we call a SPOA mounting of the Axle (Spring Over Axel) Because of this there is nothing holding the axle to the car but a few bolts.

In a normal set up the axle is fitted between the leafsprings and the body. If the same bolts than on the video break in that case, the axle is still locked between leafsprings and body.
This is also the reason why SPOA mounting of Axles is illegal in the "civilized" countries.

Am I missing something? Are we still talking about the first video? Is that not a coil spring and a control arm hanging out on the rear section of frame where one may find a leaf spring?
 
Just watched it for the 3rd time. Its a link with coils.
