Dune Buggy Street Legal?.

I have a 2005 Joyner 650 Sand Spider. It has headlights, tailights, turn signals, brake light, mirrors. Can these be made street legal?.

I work with a guy that builds these on the side. He does the vw rails. As long as they pass the inspection and has a title and vin # they are legal. He has told me in the past that if he didnt have a title for the buggy he would carry it to the DMV and apply for a custom title and they stampped their numbers on it. Another guy I work with is looking at the 800cc buggies ready for the road. Let me know how it turns out. He is wanting the buggy bad.

yes ,i was told if you have a bill of origin,from were you purchased the chassis,builder,you can get a dmv offficial inspect it and get a title for it,thant what the NC DMV told me.if you cannot get the bill of origin you still can get it inspected but you have to get some kind of insurance bond ,(just so no one can come say you stole it from them),hope this helps.

I saw one tooling around Gastonia on Sunday. It did have tags. Didn't see inspection stickers as it was moving. I know they are legal in S.C.
