Truck in question is 05 4x4 2500 lly allison combo...

Engine produces a ticking noise, sounds just like an exhaust leak but weve done everything we could think of to try and locate it(covered exhaust pipe, sound does not change, even under load). Anyone hear of this problem before?

    thanks

if it is the noise I'm thinking of, (rythmic ticking, almost like an old typwiter) it is normal, it'll go away after 10k miles or so.

There is a TSB about the noise, specifically stating that repair attempts should not be attempted for the ticking noise. They ALL have it at some point during break in ( which could last up tp 20k miles depending on use.)

I deal with many Dmax's, I have replaced more injectors than I care to count (LB7) I have seen 2 blown up, both due to owner ignorance.

If this is your first diesel, learn to accept that it'll make many different noises through out it's life span, most are just the nature of the beast.

Come See me at Bobby Murray, in the truck shop. I may even have one torn down for injectors or what ever so you can see the guts.
