My neighbor has what appears to be a jeep overgrown in weeds/trees in his backyard and today I asked him outta curiosity what it was and he said it was a 1940's CJA or something, its hard to tell what this is and almost looks like an aircraft tug, its very small with what looks to be a small bed and a hardtop with hard doors. any ideas if they made a CJ that early with a hardtop?

Maybe he said CJ-2A?
Built 45-49
Had available hard top - Did it look like this WillysHardtop ?

Exactly

Thats the one, looks identical to the photos.

Thanks so much

can be worth alot, or worth a little. gonna be hard to get rid of a high-hood like the one in the pic though. pics? how much rust, how complete, running, mods etc.

Well I traded an XJ motor and tranny for this 48 CJ-2A that had been in a barn for 20 years:

It is all original except for the gas tank & air cleaner. But it has 5 of the original 5.5 stealies which are worth more than the $300 I had in the motor.

nice

awesome

Great, thanks for all the replies, I talked to my neighbor who I think is in his early 90's and he said he had given it to a girl a while back. I went and looked at it again and its been there so long there are 3 trees around 6 inches wide that have grown up around it. He said to keep in touch so I may go over in a few days and ask what he would take for it. The thing that stands out the most is that sears half top, Ive been looking all over and haven't seen many at all. I definitely don't have time for another project but would love to get it and pass it along to someone who does.

Thanks again
Ben
