4 banger--1987 2.5L TBI (1991 MPI)
6 banger--1991 4.0L MPI

and that was also the first year of the YJ

Hmm, I was just reading in Jp mag "Autopsy of the YJ", and they said the 87YJ 4banger had a 1bbl carb, the TBI wasnt intro'd until 1988. Who knows, 1987 was an AMC YJ, it wasnt until model year 1988 when it became a Chrysler YJ. Its a Jeep thing...

1991 when the 4.0L came out for the 6 cylinder.
