Need some help guys, I am looking for an 8.5x24 enclosed with 5k axles, heat/ac and I would like to find one with a bathroom. I am trying to stay under $10000, what dealers do you guys recommend? Anyone know of any good used trailers out there? It has to be bumper pull also because my chase truck has a utility bed. I am using this to haul my UTV and we will sleep in it to cut down on hotel costs.
Thanks,
Pat

First off, you get what you pay for. ESPECIALLY with enclosed trailers. I can't tell you the number of folks that I know or have spoken with at events that have had to rebuild ramp doors, reweld the entire dovetail, etc, etc, etc.

RacingJunk is probably your best bet for a used enclosed for a decent price. I'd stick with well-known brands, and even err toward the "expensive" side of their product line if you can.

Keep a close eye on the unloaded trailer weight, too. As soon as you start talking about adding bathrooms and A/C units and such, they get heavy fast. It also gets harder to control the tongue weight, since some portion of the front of the trailer is fixed in place. Given the choice between two trailers, I'd pick the one with 16" wheels and bigger brakes every time.

If the trailer meets the minimum requirements to be considered a camper, you'll save some money on tags vs being registered as a cargo trailer.

Fun fact: Haulmark's mid-grade "auto transport trailer" weighs 3850# empty. The same trailer in the Edge racing line weighs 4300# empty.

I'm betting that a big chuck of that weight difference is in added steel.

thanks for the advice Shown! So I've narrowed it down to three trailers I really like, Horton, king American and freedom trailers. Each trailer has Dexter 5200lb torsion axles, triple tube tongue, beefed up ramp, 3/8 walls, vinyl walls/ceilings, 3/4 floor, bigger breaks compared to the more common internet trailers, radial tires, 50amp electrical package, interior lights, 15000btu ac/heater. The Horton trailer has 12inch OC floors, .030 exterior, 4 4ft lights instead of two like the others, RV door with screen door and weights 4300lbs empty. The king American is used however it is decked out with awning, cabinets, rubber floor, aluminum wheels, pretty much everything I want other than a bathroom. All three trailers are under $9000 with tax, lifetime tag and title fee. I have not been looking too long but I am sure I will be looking for a little while longer because I cannot find any good reviews on a lot of the trailers out there.
Thanks,
Pat

There are deals out there if you look and stay patient.

Of course when you find one keep it instead of selling it a month later like some idiots do

I pulled a Horton Hauler 7x12 V-nose all over the southeast when dad and I were motorcycle racing. It was a really good trailer, and I often wish he wouldn't have sold it. Everything about it was top notch, the way the door and ramp latched, quality of the finishing inside and out, tie down points, electrical system, etc. I'd definitely buy one again.
