I've heard of folks putting a yota 22re into a samuria before. I assume this is done using a yota 2wd tranny so the sami transfer case can remain. Is the yota engine and tranny short enough so that you don't have to relocate the transfer case. Next question........ Do you guys remember the old ford 2.3l four bangers that used to come in the rangers and mustangs. I wonder how well one of these (maybe out of a mustang) would fit into a sami.

It's a matter of length in my opinion. I have a 22r that came with a sammi I bought. I thought about doing a swap, but then I measured. The front of the 22r would end up beyond the headlights! In other words, it's 6" longer. Not that it can't be done, several of the folks on here and www.zuwharrie.com have done it. Just takes some MAJOR fabrication, and most of them are using the toy tranny. Good luck.
