Anyone know where I could find a English Bulldog. I have been looking for awhile and cant find any around here with out spending 2500 or so. I have also checked the rescue sites and had no luck there either. I want a puppy but would take one that is a few years old also. So any help that anyone could give would be great!

If you pay less than 1800.00 your getting a questionable pup, also how much do you know about the breed and what you are getting into? Just asking, I've owned 4 and won't be doing it again!

I have found some that are akc dogs for 1200 but they are in TN. I worked at a vet for 4 years and we had many of the English Bulldogs come in for boarding and for other problems so I know some about them. They have skin problems and breathing problems to name a few but I have always liked them and wanted one.

Why would you not have another one?

for the reasons you mentioned above. i had a friend whose bulldog was costing him $600 a month in vet bills! got an infection in his folds that should wouldnt go away.

you can have problems with any dog of all the ones we had at the vet none ever had any major problems

My co-worker currently has 3 & absolutely loves them! She's friends with 2 local breeders - I'll check with her tomorrow to see if they have any available. I recently got a frenchie (french bulldog) through one of them at a great price!

i have one, beleive me you dont want one. they stink, there fat, lazy, cant be outside when its hot, cant go out side in the rain, you dont want one.

I have a friend that paid $2400 for one 4yrs ago, he probably has around $7k in it now. Its had a handfull of operations and practically every condition one could have. Loves it to death but says he'll never do it again.

If its not a EXPENSIVE bloodline then ya gonna be spending alot of time at vet and not good dog for wheeling cause it wont be jumpin up into the rig, thats for sure...

Got my little monster from here --> http://www.threeoaksbulldogs.com/

We looked into rescuing an EB but at the time couldn't find one. Make sure you consider your lifestyle when you are considering getting one. It's no lab that will run behind your rig on the trail all day long. But you can't beat their personality!

My grandfather used to breed them and they were handful. Lots of problems and if you don't take utmost care of them you will end up spending a ton of money. Plus their life span is not that long compared to other dogs. And yes if you are finding them for less than about 1500-2000 dollars you are probably getting a questionable pup. I have always wanted another one but with the work involved to keep them healthy i probably won't get one.

Right now you can find them for a lot cheaper than 1500, with the economy like it is and all. I've got a friend who has probably 8 of them, and she rarely has any health problems out of them. The last problem she ran into was one of her older dogs started having seizures, and unfortunately it died, but like I said this is one out of atleast 8, and the dog was pretty old. I'm sure there's people out there who breed brothers and sisters, and others who keep dogs in unhealthy conditions, that's where you probably run into bulldogs with a lot of health problems. I've got another friend with a puppy he's trying to sell, he's asking 1200 and it's akc registered, so you can definitely find a good dog for less than the prices you've been running across.

thanks for the info. Is your friend a breader? I am moving in the next few weeks and would like to get everything moved and maybe get one in a few months.
