This spring my wife and I drove our Camry (1996) up in the Harlan KY area, then acoss I-81 near Roanoke VA. I added a bottle of Lucas injector cleaner to the gas tank before leaving home, and then added another at the next fill up. The increase in gas mileage was unbelievable and I have been bragging to everyone about it. This past week we had to drive up to the Pittsburgh PA area due to a serious illness in our family. I have made this trip many times and pretty well know the trip to be about 450 miles (one way). Naturally, we used the Lucas again and as before the mileage was fantastic. However, there was a catch to it. For whatever reason, our Camry has at some time apparently switched the odometer reading from miles to kilometers (1.6 mile). There is no button to switch it, and the owners manual makes no mention of it. Now I have to figure out how to correct that, plus I have to inform a good number of folks that the Lucas stuff might not be quite as good as I first told them. Duh????

Lol thats great. Good times.

That's funny Don!
To set back to miles...try holding the trip reset while the display is on total ODO. I think that does the trick. Probably held it in at the wrong time on your initial Lucas trip and flipped it to Kilometers.

A little more detail please???? What is total ODO????

Oh... and thanX John! :)

I may have assumed too much Don but I assume your camry has a digital odometer and not the old "roll" numbers? If it's the roll numbers, I'm not sure how it could have got changed to KM.

If it's digital...push the button until the display reads the total odometer miles (not trip/miles), then hold the button down until it changesback to miles. If you hold the button down while in trip, you only reset trip back to zero.

John, it's the "roll" type... appreciate you trying though! :)

Don you always good for a good laugh or 3... Actually I think your just more willing than most to share your mess ups.

Mike, it's always been my belief that if you can't share a laugh over your own screw-ups, then you don't have much right to laugh at others over their blunders. Besides that, Ive seen a lot of miserable people in my life, and I don't particularly care to be one of them. Enjoy the chuckle... it will make you feel good!

I say you get on the highway and start at a mile marker and drive to the next. If it rolls before you get there then kilo's if it rolls closer to the marker miles.

so now You're saying DO NOT BUY the Lucas oil stuff because it changes your odometer settings?
just kidding:lol:

Maybe it does!? I hear that stuff works wonders!

Back in college I had a built Turbo LeBaron. I used to take it out on the highway and run it hard with my wife in the car. I'd always flip the digital dash to km/hr when she was sleeping and she'd freak out for a second when she woke up and it looked like we were doing 196mph.

I'm surprised that Don can keep the pilot light lit in his computer! If I heard right, it's a 67 model and runs on propane! Which is an upgrade from the steam powered one he had origanally!

Careful there ole man... this computer just happens to be the "Etch-a-Sketch" model you gave to me 'cause you broke your toe try to boot it! :flipoff2:

What did you notice performance wise?

I noticed the biggest difference pulling the mountains (I-77, 19, & I-79) this time. The car always jumped in and out of passing gear quite a lot going up the mountains. This trip it only did it on the real steep ones. We also noticed that earlier on our trip from Harlan to Roanoke, although I don't believe the mountains to be quite as steep. I played with the odometer button some this morning on I-85, but still have not got it back to mph.

A week ago I put the Lucas Transmission additive in my Suburban because I was so taken with Don's testamony with this product! Slowly it has changed into a MANUAL transmission! This stuff is amazing! Thanks Don for the tip on this miracle additive! I also noticed that I no longer have miles on my odometer! With further investigation I assumed it had changed to metric as did Don's vehicle......not so! It had changed to nautical knots per hour!:flipoff2:

Never thought of that, I'll get on that as soon as Don can help me!
