exhaust manifold glowing red hot

what does it mean when your exhaust manifold glowes red? its on a 22r, early 80s yota

Still have a converter on it ?

converter could be plugged up, or some other type of exhaust restriction, maybe internal muffler collapse ?

Vacuum leak could be casuing it to run lean, quick easy way to burn valve and pistons as well.
