In the past 3 weeks, I've seen 2 different newer Ford exploders parked and left with the liftgate open, no owners in site. I was thinking maybe the owners accidentally hit the liftgate open button while hitting the doorlock button. Could the layout on the key FOB be that bad, or are exploder owners that dumb? Maybe it was just a coincidence.

No idea - but we had a problem w/ our Pathfinder where the windows would all roll down randomly. Something weird about the key fob and its battery being low or something. Our neighbor has a similar model and the same thing happened. We stopped using the fob, problem vanished. Eventually got new fobs and hasn't happened.

The point is there could be some oddity with the fob/receiver system that causes it to happen.

Not a FOB problem. My wife’s Edge does the same thing if you use the automatic lift gate function to close the lift gate. If you use the auto close function and hit the lock button on the key fob before the lift gate is fully closed it automatically goes back up. Very annoying feature for a vehicle that has so many options and crazy keyless features on it.

The Japanese cars have a thing where if you hold the lock and unlock button it will roll all the windows down 1/2 way.
